I am Susanna Powell (yoga@susannapowell.com). As a sole trader, I am the "Data Controller" of your personal information. I am committed to handling your data responsibly when you use my website, book classes, or complete any new student questionnaires.

The data I collect and why

I may collect:

• your name and contact details

• booking and class information

• payment and transaction information

• information you provide when you contact me or give feedback

• health information relevant to your participation in yoga, such as injuries, medical conditions or pregnancy

• emergency contact details, where you choose to provide them

• information about your use of my website, including technical information and cookies.

I use this information to respond to enquiries, manage bookings, provide yoga classes, communicate with you about classes, contact your nominated emergency contact if necessary in an emergency, process payments, maintain appropriate business records and comply with legal and tax obligations. I may also use website information to maintain and improve my website.

My Legal Bases for Processing

• Contractual Necessity / Legitimate Interests: Used for business admin, processing payments, running website analytics, and managing standard bookings.

• Explicit Consent: Used specifically for your health data. You provide this by actively opting in on my new student questionnaire. You can withdraw consent at any time, though it may mean you can no longer attend certain classes if it is unsafe for you to do so.

Health-related information is treated as confidential and is only used to ensure classes and services can be provided safely and appropriately. I only collect health information that is relevant and necessary to support your safe participation in yoga.

Health-related information will only be shared where necessary and lawful, for example with your consent, where necessary to protect someone's vital interests, or where I am legally required to do so.

How I protect and share your information

• Security: I take reasonable steps to protect your data from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. In the rare event of a data breach, I will notify you and the ICO if legally required.

• Third Parties: I may use trusted service providers to operate my business, such as website, booking, payment, email and database providers. Where appropriate, these providers process information on my behalf and are required to protect it.

• International Transfers: Some of my service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, I will use appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law.

How long I keep your information

I keep personal information only for as long as I reasonably need it for the purpose for which it was collected, taking account of legal, tax, insurance and other relevant requirements.

Different types of information may therefore be kept for different periods.

When information is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or anonymised.
